This painting takes the perspective of sitting in a kayak on the canal leading out of the marina in Turnhout.
Being on the water has always relaxed me. I love the feeling of moving quietly through the landscape, with little more than the sound of the water against the kayak.
This painting has a special place in my home. It hangs on the wall beside my couch. When I lie back and look up at it, I can almost slip back into the kayak. I can hear the water moving along the sides and feel that familiar sense of calm.
My favorite moments are when we pass beneath the shadows of the trees lining the canal. The water becomes darker and cooler, and most of the time, there is no one else around.
Just the kayak, the water, and the quiet.
